First 30 seconds

Emergency call triage that judges urgency in the first 30 seconds

The first 30 seconds decide everything. A no-heat call and a quote request need different treatment, and we judge which one you're getting.

What emergency call triage does

When a call comes in, the first thing we do is listen for the temperature of the problem. Is somebody's furnace off in January? That's a different beast from someone asking for a new boiler quote. The words they use, the tone, the background noise, they all matter.

Emergency call triage sorts those calls in the first thirty seconds. The urgent ones get flagged, the calm ones get logged, and you get a calendar that makes sense when you look at it.

What we figure out

  • Is there a safety issue (gas, carbon monoxide, no heat)?
  • Is this a breakdown or a project?
  • Does the customer sound panicked or patient?
  • What kind of callback time does this really need?

Each call gets a label and a slot. You set the rules; we apply them.

The judgement, not the answering

Answering the phone is the easy part. The hard part is working out what the call actually means. A call about a leaking water heater is not the same as a call about a new bathroom reno, even if both start with 'how fast can you come?'

We're not a message service that just takes notes. We're the person who decides whether this is a 'drop everything' call or a 'call back on Tuesday' call. That judgement is what keeps your day from falling apart.

For $297 a month, you get that judgement on every call. The first month is free for founding clients, so you can see the difference before you pay a cent. It's a flat fee, so you know what you're paying.

How emergency call triage works

A closer look at the process

01

Pick up and listen

The phone gets answered. We ask who they are and what's going on. The first two sentences tell us most of what we need.

02

Ask the key questions

If it's not clear, we ask one or two more. Gas smell? Water level? How long has this been going on?

03

Sort the urgency

We decide if this is an emergency call triage situation or a normal request. No heat in a cold snap goes to the front. A quote for a new furnace goes in the queue.

04

Set the priority

Each job gets ranked from 'right now' to 'next week'. You see the order on your calendar before you even call back.

05

Book the job

The call becomes a calendar event with the right priority and the customer's details. You know exactly what to expect.

06

Let you know

If it's truly urgent, we make sure you see it before anything else. You get a heads up so you can adjust your day.

Questions about emergency call triage

What if the caller is just asking for a price?

That's a normal call. We note their name, number and question, and it lands in your calendar as a quote request. You call them back when you have a minute.

How do you know what's urgent for my trade?

You set the rules. We start with the basics like no heat, gas smell, or water flooding, then adjust for your business. The triage follows your priorities, not ours.

Does this work outside business hours?

Yes. That's often when the urgent calls come in. The phone gets answered around the clock, and the triage judgement happens the same way.
